Welcome to our Online Collections Database!

Tips for Searching

Think of the database like a library card catalog. You have to look up data a certain way to get the best results. Here are some tips and tricks to get the most out of your search!

Keyword Search

The Keyword Search button allows you to perform a general search across multiple fields for any catalog records online.

  • When to use it: Keyword Search is best if you want to do a broad search across categories. For example, enter water in the Keyword Search if you want to find everywhere water is written as a stand-alone word. Once entered, all artists named Water, or all works with water in their title or description will come up.

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search button can help you be more specific with your search.

  • When to use it: Advance Search is best when you are looking for the work of a particular artist (Jennie Jones), want to find the title of a work with a specific word in it (Edgewater), or want a search of all works created in a certain medium (Silver Gelatin Print)

Random Images

The Random Images button is a great way to just browse the collection. Each Random Images page displays a random assortment of images from the records online. If something piques your interest, click the thumbnail to view a larger version of the image.
